The 2025 GMC Sierra HD meets the rigorous demands of truck owners who rely on powerful, capable pickups for daily work. This capable hauler comes in a broad range of trims to suit every need and lifestyle. Let’s explore how the Sierra HD gets drivers ready for serious work.
Maximum Capability Unlocked
Two powerful engines are offered. The standard engine is a 6.6L V8, which delivers 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For increased power and torque, the 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 is available, offering 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped with the diesel engine, the Sierra 3500HD can tow up to 36,000 pounds using a gooseneck hitch, while the 2500HD can haul 22,500 pounds.
Higher trims such as AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate come standard with four-wheel drive, however, lower trims have this as an available option over the standard real-wheel drive. AT4 and AT4X models also offer off-road tuned suspensions, underbody skid plates, and recovery hooks.
Functional Interior
Drivers can make their cabin as luxurious or as spartan as they like. Base trims make ideal work trucks, with durable vinyl upholstery, manually adjustable seats, and straightforward analog controls. Front seats in the SLT trim and above offer 10-way power adjustments, heating, and ventilation. Denali and Denali Ultimate trims add premium appointments such as massaging front seats, leather upholstery, open-pore wood, and real aluminum trim.
Cab configurations include Regular Cab (3 passengers), Double Cab (5 or 6 passengers, smaller rear doors), and Crew Cab (5 or 6 passengers, full-size rear doors). Pro and SLE trims can include any configuration, while other trims have more limited options.
Versatile and Durable Exterior
The Sierra HD’s high-strength steel frame is durable and supportive, while aluminum components help to reduce weight while maintaining structural integrity. All trims come standard with LED lighting, and higher trims include animated light sequences and fog lights. Two bed lengths are available: a 6-foot 9-inch Standard Bed and an 8-foot Long Bed. Both beds include 12 standard cargo tie-downs rated at 500 pounds each.
Starting on SLT models and higher, the MultiPro Tailgate comes standard. This versatile tailgate offers six functions, including steps, load stops, and a work surface.
Smart Tech to Support the Job
Most trims come with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, though a larger 13.4-inch display is available and is standard equipment on Denali and Denali Ultimate. All models come with wireless smartphone connectivity, while SLT trims and above include wireless charging, OnStar connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot, and up to 13 available camera views, including a transparent trailer view.
