3 Common Cooling System Issues and Services for Your GMC Vehicle

Your GMC engine operates most efficiently when it stays within a specific temperature range. To maintain this, the engine’s cooling system works to regulate the heat generated, preventing damage to critical components. If there’s an issue with the cooling system, it’s important to address it promptly. At your GMC dealership, we’re here to help with the following common signs that indicate it’s time for a cooling system service. Coolant Leak The cooling system uses coolant, which is a liquid mixture of antifreeze and water. The coolant continually circulates through the engine to absorb heat and transport it to the radiator. Inside the radiator, the hot coolant enters horizontal rows of thin aluminum tubes and is cooled by the rapid flow of air through the radiator grille as it passes over the tubes. more Worn seals, a rusted radiator, or any other damage to the cooling system can cause a leak. If the coolant leaks internally, it will cause the exhaust smoke to turn thick and white. An external leak is also easy to spot, as coolant is available in bright colors like blue, orange, pink, and green. We'll examine your cooling system and fix the leak, then we'll refill the coolant. Clogged Radiator The coolant absorbs other things besides heat as it moves through the engine. Rust particles, dirt, and other debris can all be collected and transported to the radiator. When the heat is removed from the coolant by heat exchange, the coolant flows out of the radiator but leaves any debris behind, and it sinks to the bottom of the radiator. As time passes, debris accumulates at the bottom of the radiator and forms a thick sludge. As the sludge expands, it can block the exit from the radiator and the cooling fins. Any blockage in the radiator reduces its ability to remove heat, and the engine temperature will quickly rise. If your temperature gauge shows a rapid increase for no obvious reason, contact us ASAP so we can investigate and fix the problem. Damaged Radiator Fan As we've seen, airflow through the radiator removes heat. This works very well when your vehicle is moving, but if it's idling, airflow is drastically reduced. When this happens, the radiator fan at the back of the radiator switches on and blows across the back of the radiator tubes, forcing heat from the coolant and blowing it out through the radiator. If your engine temperature rises when your GMC idles, the radiator fan could be damaged. It might be a damaged wire, a blown fuse, or the fan may have seized. Our technicians will check and repair or replace it, depending on the situation. If your cooling system isn't working as it should, contact us right away at Everett Buick GMC in Bryant, AR.

Your car's AC filter fresh and changed after having service in Bryant, AR

3 Signs Your AC Needs Service

Like every other system in your car, your air conditioning needs service if you want it to continue to provide you with cool air on demand. GMC AC service at a GMC dealership will keep this important feature of your vehicle in decent shape. Here's a few signs that it's time for a service. You're Hearing Noises When your air conditioning is in good shape, it shouldn't make much of any sound. If you start to hear rustling, this probably means that something is stuck in the system, like leaves. This could be a minor issue, but if it's left undealt with for long enough, it can develop into a more critical concern. more Then, you have rattling or clunking noises. These are usually more serious because they are typically caused by loose or damaged components within the AC system itself. While it could be something less serious, like gravel in the system, it's still a good idea to let us take a look at it and find the cause of this noise. We can clean out the system and repair any parts that have been damaged. You've Got a Leak You're not going to be able to see that you have a refrigerant leak in your system, but you'll be able to tell because you won't be getting the chill air out of your system that you expect. The refrigerant is the colorless and odorless gas that kills the air before it gets blown into your cabin. When the system is working properly, this gas gets pumped through the system by the compressor and changes from gas to liquid and back to gas as it absorbs water from the air and chills it. Sometimes, refrigerant can start leaking because there's a worn or damaged seal within the system. You can't spot this, since it is odorless and colorless, but we can use a dye that we add to the refrigerant and a portable UV viewer to follow its progress through the air-conditioning system to identify whether there is a leak and exactly where it is. The Carpet Is Wet If the carpet is wet over by the front passenger foot well, it's likely due to the AC. As mentioned above, the gas removes air from the water before it chills the air, and this water is supposed to be stored in the evaporator heater box and then drained onto the ground. If the drainpipe gets blocked, it can start leaking all over the floor. If you notice leakage, we can fix it. Whatever your AC problem is, reach out to us today at Everett Buick GMC in Bryant, AR for service, and we'll keep you cool.

Explore the key features of this eco-friendly, high-performance utility vehicle today. The HUMMER EV SUV 2X sets the performance bar for the rest of the lineup with a dual-motor Performance e4WD electric powertrain. The two motors distribute 570 horsepower and 7,400 lb-ft of torque between the front and rear wheels for extraordinary power. This model has an estimated electric range of 303 miles. Opting for the Extreme Off-Road Package increases the prowess of the powertrain to deliver 635 horsepower and 9,500 lb-ft of torque. more The HUMMER EV SUV comes with an electronic transmission range selection mounted on the console that can also be toggled with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Drivers can switch between selectable drive modes to match the performance of the powertrain to the road conditions, such as increasing powertrain output for more aggressive acceleration. Engineering Highlight: CrabWalk Electronic 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk is also standard. The 4-Wheel Steer system can be activated when the EV SUV travels below 25 MPH. When this system is engaged, the rear tires and front tires can turn in opposite directions to increase the maneuverability of the SUV. The system will automatically turn the front and rear wheels in the same direction when driving above 25 MPH. While 4-Wheel Steer is a great tool to make parallel parking and off-roading on narrow trails easier, the CrabWalk feature takes it a step further. When CrabWalk is turned on, the rear wheels and front wheels can turn at the same angle, so the EV SUV can move diagonally at slow speeds. Top Packages and Upgrades The HUMMER EV SUV can be customized to suit your lifestyle with bundled upgrades like the Sport Package, Cargo Utility Package, and Extreme Off-Road Package.
